Microsoft: Windows Phone sideways past the iPhone in China

Microsoft may tread water when it comes to Windows Phone adoption in the United States, but the platform has already narrowly eclipsed the Iphone’s market share in China, where the fight has just begun.

After two years, Microsoft has a few victories it can claim for the Windows Phone platform, which recently received a shot in the arm here in the United States with the debut of Nokia Lumia 900.

Redmond is now ready to declare a small victory for Windows Phone in China, where the mobile OS picked up 7% of an extremely lucrative market.
While we hear a lot about how popular Apple’s iconic iPhone in China, the company has barely scratched the surface of what is possible with only 6% market share.

Windows phone inches forward
