Rumors of a new Kindle, or three, of land in our inbox with surprising frequency, but when they come from our brothers in TechCrunch, we will definitely give it a listen. Devin Coldewey reports how he was lucky enough to snatch a glance at one of the developing Kindle, which sports an illuminated screen.
Amazon’s purchase of Finnish company Oy Modilis, who has a quiver of patents relating to lighting technology, adds credence to the idea that an e-reader with some kind of lighting would be going on, and Coldewey think he’s seen it.
He says that touching the screen displays a slider bar that when dragged to the right, ”lit up evenly with a pretty cool light.” Important - the eyes and batteries both - the light is said to be softer, and softer blue-white color, as compared to the hard white common in LCD monitors.
The loose-lipped wielder of this device claim that industrial design is not finished yet, but did hint at a 2012 release. We do not hold your breath, but the chance to do away with additional lighting accessories is definitely enough to get us to keep our fingers crossed.
I Hope you Like the technology Post about Enlightened Kindle e-readers might appear this year.
