Developers ‘energized but full of fear’ over next-gen consoles

Doublesix CEO James Brooksby has recognized that many game developers are feeling both excited and scared about the arrival of the new Xbox and PS4. Brooksby’s doublesix have had success with games like Geometry Wars: Galaxies and Burn Zombie Burn, but the upcoming arrival of the new hardware is a double edged sword for developers.

“[The industry] is full of excitement and fear in equal measures,” said Brooksby at Westminster eForum. ”The move to the next generation of classic consoles givesmore fear in many people’s eyes.

“There arose not as expensive as before arrival [Xbox 360 and PS3], but it’s still pretty scary to devs and publishers alike. ”I think people are inclined to stick to the tried dev houses for the next generationand it is probably a challenge to the UK gaming industry.”

“Gamers are almost hard to choose, and many people will have a real discussion of their strategies and thinking of new strategies for 2012 and 2013,” he added. ”Gamers move around everywhere because they have so many options and we have to look hard at where our audience has gone by and make games that areappropriate for them.

“Small developers are making innovative games on the console may be the exception to the rule - but we’ll see more of these kinds of stories about thetablets, smartphones and reliable old PC.” For Latest updates, Suggestion and Technology improvement, You can Join us on our Facebook Page  and can Follow Us on Twitter
