Today I will share Technology News about Cambridge is UK’s first space city as trials declared a success. UK space consortium have declared their technology trials a success in Cambridge today.
Some of tech’s biggest names together for equipping Silicon Fen with Neul’s “” Weightless “broadband gear–manage to obtain a data service that bredbandskonnektiviteten to the inhabitants of rural England. While large for those who cannot get fixed line services, the Consortium also stressed the benefits to Governments that might use an internet and mobile phone networks, which can offload excess traffic in times of need.
All those who have called for is Ofcom to double-check claims that it doesn’t interfere with other wireless transmission formats and delivering its official blessing. Let us hope the Government study didn’t turn up any unwarranted, that we would hate a British version of LightSquared.
PRESS RELEASE
Highlights Smart City use cases by demonstrating the world’s first smart meter reading of empty space
Cambridge, UK, April 25, 2012-Neul, a world leader in technology for the Internet of things, today announced distribution in Cambridge of the world’s first city-wide, fully functional wireless network in space, allowing for a variety of smart city programme. To view this network Neul, in collaboration with Bglobal Metering, is today showcasing the world’s first smart electricity meter reading over a white space networks. This is the first step towards smart grid that will allow electricity to be matched more efficient real time demand.
The SPACEBAR is the unused and underused elements of wireless spectrum. For example, around the world there are many TV channels remained available on most sites. Neuls technology opens up these channels and will also enable underused frequencies within the licenced and unlicensed bands other UHF is used effectively for wireless communication.
Neuls network builds on the successful completion of the first phase of the Cambridge space Consortium’s network, also announced today. The Consortium phase of a network used Neuls equipment and cloud interface, together with the zero-g communications functions, to prove that its space network fully coexist with TVs and wireless microphones without causing disruption or interruption. Neuls network will now build on that foundation for commercial trials later this year with the full roll out expected in 2013.
In addition to smart grid opens Neuls network several fascinating opportunities for Smart City in the future, enabling smarter management of transport and traffic management, city lighting and other municipal services.
“In a world of smart phones and mobile broadband, it is easy to imagine that has wireless capability now resolved,” commented Glenn Collinson, co-founder and Board member of Neul. “It is not. Mobile Broadband is too expensive for “things” in Smart City. Mobile Broadband is also battery powered units would have to change too often. And all these sensors would load mobile network to such a level that there would be little network capacity to the left.
-Mobile networks is very good for humans, but terrible for machines. The Neul we now show that the city Smart can happen now with a new wireless standard called “” Weightless “specially designed for embedding in electricity and gas meters, air quality sensors, recycling points, street lighting, parking lots, traffic lights and … well … “things” rather than the people. “
“Over the last few years we have heard a lot about white space and the opportunities it will bring. With many countries, approves the necessary legislation, the launch of the world’s first city-wide spaces network along with the demonstration of a smart meter reads over white space is an important milestone in realising this potential. “commented Will Strauss, Chief Analyst, forward concepts. “Technology available today is simply not realistic in dealing with cost, power and for the increase in requirements in many parts of the city Smart. This sharp movement against a world of ubiquitous machine-to-machine communications has huge implications and industry will carefully.
